6 important facts: Probiotics and SBO supplements 🙌

Hello everyone! Have a wonderful and safe day 🙋🏻

We know by now that our gut flora is full of the microbiome. It is this microbiome flora which maintains our health and wellbeing. Previously, nobody ever worried about this microbiome flora which is natural and responsible for our good health. But in today’s time, due to consuming highly processed, refined food, heavy toxins and pesticides in food, unhealthy lifestyle, artificial farming and hybrid products, environmental toxins, this gut microbiome flora is greatly affected. The overall health and immunity status of people have suffered much. As a result, many chronic health issues like chronic inflammation, inflammatory bowel diseases, autoimmune conditions, and cancers have increased.

In the past, food used to come directly from the soil. People lived closer to nature. Nowadays, whatever food is available in the Supermarket, are all cleaned, bleached grains, vegetables, fruits, and processed refined, packaged foods. Therefore, the gut microbiome flora is shrinking slowly. This is why more and more people are suffering from gut health issues and other chronic severe conditions.

6 Important facts about Probiotics and SBO supplements:

1. Probiotics are live organisms which are found in some natural foods. They are also available in the form of supplements. There are mainly two types: Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria. They have become very popular in recent times because they provide the gut microbiome flora with good bacteria, improve digestion, increase immunity, and improve overall health and wellbeing.

Probiotics are found naturally in fermented foods like:
Kefir
Saurkraut
Kombucha
Natto
Yoghurt
Apple cider vinegar
Miso
Gherkins
Kimchi

3. Dairy-based probiotics are naturally found in yoghurt, especially in goat milk yoghurt and raw cheese. But, in processed cheese and poorly storage dairy products, probiotic bacteria get denatured. Sometimes, acidic ph in the stomach also can harm the good probiotic bacteria found in dairy. So, having dairy products may not provide enough probiotic in our body.

4. SBOs are soil-based organisms found in the soil, about 6 inches below the topsoil. They are found to be very beneficial to overall good health. To name a few, like Anthrobacter Simplex, Bacillus brevis and many more. Commercially grown plants and crops lack SBOs as they are no longer grown on the natural organic environment. So, SBO supplements are very much in demand.

5. SBO supplements are useful in improving overall immunity status, improving inflammation and digestion. Patients affected by chronic issues, or who undergo chemotherapy, SBOs supplements help improve gut functions and immunity status significantly.

6. While taking Probiotics and SBO supplements, one should start slowly and in consultation with a Physician. About 70%-80% of people can show marked improvement after taking supplements like improving digestion, reducing inflammation, and improving immunity. While some may show slow progress like the symptoms can slowly reduce. While there may not be any improvement or sometimes some people, there may have a negative impact. So the response is quite variable. The decision of using such supplements depends on the individual and his or her requirement. Otherwise, regular intake of natural sources of Probiotics can be very beneficial too.

Face ageing: 5 crucial tips 😌

Hello everyone ! Have a wonderful and safe day 🙋🏻

Skin is the largest organ in the body and is most prominent. So, any kind of changes of ageing can be visible clearly in the skin. The skin, like other tissues, possess the extracellular matrix. This matrix comprises collagen and other structural compounds called Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and proteoglycans. All these compounds together contribute to the tightness of the tissues which keep our skin stiff and makes us look younger and radiant.

As we age, we tend to lose more collagen, proteoglycans and GAGs slowly. A research study has shown that another vital hormone produced in the liver called Insulin Growth Factor -1 (IGF-1) is related to facial ageing. These IGF-1 levels are inversely proportional to the levels of serum insulin in the body. When insulin level is high like in case of insulin resistance individuals, the IGF-1 level is low. So, insulin resistance individuals tend to age faster usually. Hyaluronic acid is a lubricant which is also naturally produced by our body which helps the skin and connective tissues to retain the moisture. We tend to lose this lubricant due to ageing and unhealthy food habits.

Facial ageing causes the horizontal and vertical lines to look prominent, thinned skin, loss of elasticity and collagen, loss of tissues and bones in the cheeks, fat atrophy, puffiness around eyes, sagginess around the neck and so on.

Common factors which aggravate the ageing process:

1.Smoking
2.Too much sun exposure causes skin damage. But, daily exposure to 10-15 mins of sunlight is useful for Vitamin D synthesis in the body.

3.Too much chemical-based cosmetic products like cremes, lotions, make up products are harmful.
4.Alcohol /drugs consumption
5.Refined processed food and too much sugar

6.Chronic stress causes high cortisol level.
7.Sedantery lifestyle and lack of exercise.

Specific important ways which prevent facial ageing :

1.Exercise: Most preferably maintaining an active lifestyle with the routine exercise of 30 mins to1 hour is ideal.A particular activity like high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is short periods of 7-10mins of intense exercise with intervals of rest, and low-intensity exercise is beneficial to keep the cortisol level optimum.

2.Enhance the quality of sleep: Sleep induces the release of HGH, human growth hormone and Insulin growth factor-1, which helps to prevent the breakdown of collagen and proteoglycans.

3.Intemittent fasting: Fasting of at least 16 hours can stimulate autophagy, body’s renewal mechanism, activates the immune system. Fasting increases the antioxidant activity and increase stem cell production.
4: Foods:
Collagen rich foods: These foods are a rich source of collagen, amino acids and hyaluronic acids.
Fermented foods: bone broth, green leafy veggies, caviar or fish roe, citrus fruits, mushrooms and seaweeds. To know more about collagen, please refer to my previous post https://healthhappinesshealing.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=4448&action=edit

Healthy fats: Omega 3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA found in oily fishes like salmon, tuna, sardines, nuts like walnuts, macadamia, pecan nuts, seeds like chia seeds, flax seeds.
Saturated fats like in grass-fed butter, ghee, coconut oil, olive oil are very helpful.

Organic Acids: Organic acids promote the growth of probiotics in the body, which helps to support the immune system and the cell renewal process. Organic acids found in fermented foods like saurkraut, kombucha are quite known for beauty benefits. The citric acid found in citrus fruits is also vital. Enzyme rich foods: Enzymes are essential for digestion and absorption of proteins in the body. Certain fruits with individual enzymes present in each of them like papaya contain papain. Figs contain ficans. Pineapple contains bromelain and kiwi have actinidain are all-powerful proteolytic enzymes which helps in the polysaccharide metabolism and the digestive process. Fruits are also rich in antioxidants which prevent free radical damage.

Vitamins: Fat-soluble vitamins D, K, E, A are all essential for the prevention of free radical damage and cells renewal process.

5.Essential oils: These natural oils work naturally on the skin by hydrating and moisturizing. Some commonly used oils for beauty purpose are geranium, frankincense, lavender, jojoba, myrrh, rose and rosemary.

So, it is crucial to understand that to have a healthy body, a glowing skin, and healthy hair; it is necessary to correct our food habits and lifestyle rather than spending an enormous amount on cosmetic treatments and beauty products. The approach should be inside out rather than external means.

Therefore, the only basic dietary advice can be you should eat enough of plant-based food. You should feed yourself with varieties of veggies and fruits, preferably fresh and locally available. Probiotic foods are also gut friendly. Remember, you have a huge colony of microbes in your gut. If some may prefer some kind of food, other microbes may like some other kind of food. This way, you can make them happy and they work together for your stronger health.

2.Big “NO” to sugar: Just say, “NO” to sugar and all artificial sweeteners. The natural sweetness in fruits and veggies and also natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup is not that harmful. Otherwise, sugar alters the composition and functions of natural gut microbes and becomes the feast for harmful bacteria and fungus-like Candida.

3. Say “NO” to processed food and food with preservatives. Harmful preservatives (Like polysorbate 80, carboxymethylcellulose ) alter the composition of gut microbes. Genetically Modified food (bioengineered food) are also very harmful to gut health because they use some kind of pesticides while growing them. Common GMO food is corn, soy, some veggies like zucchini, squash. So, organic, or naturally grown veggies and fruits are best.

3. Avoid popping up pills: Say no to antibiotics and NSAIDs (aspirin, Advil ) as far as possible. Both these drugs alter the composition and function of the gut microbiome. Use it only when necessary.

4.Please quit smoking: Studies have shown that smoking causes alteration in the composition of the gut microbiome. Therefore, another reason added to the list to quit smoking.

5 Get out in Nature: People living the sedentary city lives, hardly come across varieties of microbiomes. So, the only way to expose yourself to varieties of microbes, a wider ecosystem is going out in nature, spending as much time, going hiking, biking and lot more of physical activities.

6.Have a pet at home, that also helps to increase your microbiome diversity.
